Hoisting the Net

Back on Friday, Typhoon Etau swept through town.
Ahead of the storm, the golf range in front of Mie University took down its netting to prevent it from getting damaged. They rigged it back up on Saturday morning; here are a few photos I took.

I'm especially jealopus of those first two and the one at the end. I don't know how you get it to look so expansive. when I try to shoot something like that I can't seem to capture the vastness of the scene. I suppose it has something to do with the angles, but even so...
I also like the close up of the rain in the net. Looks real professional.

Any merit the gallery may have certainly isn't due to my skills as a photographer. I just took a megaton of snaps and selected those I liked best.
I wonder, though -- do people go around setting themselves tasks as photographers, like "I want to capture the essential vastness of this thing" or "how do I celebrate the beauty of this monstrosity without losing the sense that it is a monstrosity, a blight in a blighted landscape"?
Maybe you just take good photos when you sneak at your subject, transgress on it, treat it as if it were the car dump where you used to go as a boy and steal the auto parts you needed to furnish your spacecraft at home?
What do I know.
